Their is over 100,000 lights synchronized to christmas lights. When visiting the display, tune your car radio to 98.1 FM. 9am – 1pm: Christmas Bird Count Join local birders and Flat Rock Brook’s staff as we do our part to count all the birds at Flat Rock as part of National Audubon Society’s annual nationwide Christmas Bird Count. We’ll go out in small groups to search sections of the park and identify different species of birds. Afterwards, enjoy hot refreshments back at the Center as we tally the results. 10 – 10:30am: Nature Story Time Families with children ages 3-7 will enjoy a nature-themed story and a visit from one of TNC’s Animal Ambassadors. Learn about the animal and how they came to TNC. A new story and animal are featured each month. Animals may include snakes, frogs, turtles, owls or a hawk. Meet on the Visitor Center porch. 10 – 11am: Mad Science Holiday Show Back by popular demand, Mad Science of Northeast NJ will host a high energy holiday demonstrations of fun, education and spectacular science experiments. This exclusive Mad Science show will create Holiday Spirit with the help of the audience and Santa himself. Admission is free for children of all ages. Following each 45-minute performance, children who have purchased the VIP package will make a craft themed around the show. Sunday, December 17th

8 – 9:30am: Indoor Trainer Session The program is designed to build stamina and confidence on the bike by teaching specific skills that can be transferred to the road. The class is similar to a spin class but you are on your own bike and it is attached to a bicycle trainer which suspends your back wheel off of the ground allowing you to ride freely but stay stationary. The best part about trainer sessions is that no one gets dropped, so a variety of ability levels can benefit from the sessions. Each one hour session will include: understanding cadence, use of heart rate/power to assist with training methods, interval work, mastering the proper climbing position, proper gear selection and how to benefit from proper hydration and nutrition.
